Everyday Privileges

Living in peace

The "Crisis": Stressing over social media aesthetics, dealing with petty peer drama, or acting entitled over not getting a specific material item. Half a world away, the biggest frustration of the day is a lagging Wi-Fi connection, a post that isn't getting enough likes, or not having the newest smartphone.

The Reality: When physical safety is completely guaranteed, we tend to invent our own adversity. We magnify minor inconveniences into major life crises and measure our self-worth by online validation. What feels like the "end of the world" here is actually a luxury of safety and stability—we have the privilege to worry about things that do not threaten our survival.

Harsh Realities

The Reality: Blindly following orders without knowing why. Stripped of a childhood, handed a weapon, and forced into a cycle of violence just to survive another day.

The Impact: According to reports from the UN and Human Rights Watch, hundreds of thousands of minors in active conflict zones face grave violations and forced recruitment into armed groups. Here, there is no online persona to maintain their innocence is exploited, and their identity is reduced entirely to survival without the luxury of exploring who they want to be.
